The 1st Conference of Parents of Latvia "To Study in the Native Language" was organized and held by LAShOR on 24.11.2000 in Riga. More than 7500 people signed LAShOR's appeal to hold a Conference. More than 500 participants attended the Conference.
390 participants of the 1st Conference registered as 'parents'. Their children are studying in 90 Russian schools in Latvia. These schools are :
5 Daugavpils schools, 5 Elgava and Elgava region schools, 1 Ludza region school, 2 Ogre region schools, 2 Preili region schools, 4 Rezekne
region schools, 1 Valmiera school, 1 Tukums region school, 3 Ventspils schools, 58 Riga schools and 5 Riga region schools.Thus more than half
municipal Russian-language schools were represented in the Conference.
